Bobbi Morse
Who she is: Mockingbird, a.k.a. Bobbi Morse
Her power: No superpowers, but Bobbi Morse is a trained S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, who excels in hand-to-hand combat, especially martial arts, using her twin staves as weapons. She is also an expert spy, has a degree in biology, and speaks multiple languages fluently—she’s not nicknamed “Mockingbird” for nothing.
Her story: A longtime agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., she was recruited out of the academy by Melinda May. While working on a mission in Dubai, she met and eventually married mercenary Lance Hunter, but the two separated shortly thereafter. When she first appears on Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D., it’s as an undercover operative in the same Hydra facility where Jemma Simmons is also working as a spy, and Bobbi abandons her own cover in order to save Simmons. She joins Phil Coulson’s team, where Hunter has already been working—and learns she recommended him for the post. However, it’s eventually revealed that Morse (along with Alphonso Mackenzie) are undercover, working for a rival S.H.I.E.L.D) faction led by Robert Gonzalez, until the two groups are eventually integrated. Hunter and Morse gradually rekindle their relationship while serving on Coulson’s team, although Morse is placed on research detail with Simmons for a number of months after being badly injured subsequent to her capture and torturing by Grant Ward. She eventually rejoins the combat operations, though after she and Hunter are captured during the infiltration of a Soviet base, the two are disavowed by S.H.I.E.L.D. and must leave the division.
Played by: Adrianne Palicki
Currently, Bobbi Morse is: Somewhere in the world with Lance Hunter, hopefully still enjoying each other’s company.
Where will we see her next? The two were meant to be spun off into their own show, called Marvel’s Most Wanted, but ABC decided not to take the pilot to series. It’s unknown as of yet if she could rejoin Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. at some point in the future.
