Brie Larson ignores her eccentric family in the trailer for The Glass Castle
Country folk and city folk may never truly see eye-to-eye, but this trailer for The Glass Castle looks to bridge the gap between them by showing how a woman can reconnect with her wacky, free-spirited family after abandoning them in favor of a more successful and straightforward life in New York. Unless she doesn’t actually want to reconnect with them, of course, which seems to be the main conflict here. The movie is based on Jeannette Walls’ memoir, and Brie Larson is playing the adult version of Walls. Woody Harrelson—in full Woody Harrelson mode—is playing Walls’ alcoholic father, a man who constantly moves the family around due to his inability to hold a job, and Naomi Watts is playing her mother.
The Glass Castle was directed by Destin Cretton, who previously directed Brie Larson in Short Term 12. It’ll be in theaters on August 11.
