Brooklyn, meet The Blackcoat’s Daughter early and for free

More than a year after it wowed our critics in Toronto and at Fantastic Fest, The Blackcoat’s Daughter, a.k.a. February, is finally making its way to theaters. In his festival review, The A.V. Club’s A.A. Dowd called the deeply atmospheric film “a horror movie that’s at once clearly indebted to its genre predecessors (shades of Suspiria, The Shining, and Halloween) and stylistically distinctive enough to feel new.” It also has a bit of a Lynchian vibe going on—think blondes and brunettes with secrets—if that helps seal the deal.

The Blackcoat’s Daughter opens in limited release on March 31, but if you live in New York City, then we’ve got an opportunity for you to see it more than a week early courtesy of the Alamo Drafthouse. The screening will take place at the Alamo Drafthouse Downtown Brooklyn, this coming Thursday, March 23, at 7:30 p.m. ET; director Osgood Perkins and stars Kiernan Shipka and Lucy Boynton will be in attendance for a Q&A after the show. We’ve only got one pair of tickets to give away, so email us ASAP at [email protected], and we’ll pick winners this afternoon.

Winners will be notified by email, and the rest of us will have to wait until A24 and DirecTV release The Blackcoat’s Daughter in theaters and on demand on March 31, 2017.

UPDATE: This contest is now closed. Thanks to everyone who entered.
