Cameron Crowe's new movie to upend our stable lives with its talking computers and island magic
Just as we’d gotten used to our stable yet predictable lives, populated by Cameron Crowe movies about people whose stable yet predictable lives are turned upside down, Cameron Crowe has come along to completely upend us with the movie we didn’t even know we were waiting for, as we sat here brooding to Bob Dylan. Crowe’s next project—which, as previously reported, stars Bradley Cooper and Emma Stone, along with the just-announced Rachel McAdams—promises to throw us for a dizzying loop with a story about a defense contractor (Cooper) who teams with an Air Force pilot (Stone) to stop a weapons satellite from launching, falling in love with her in the process. McAdams will play Cooper's ex-girlfriend, who presumably subscribes to the old-fashioned way of thinking that all weapons satellites should be launched.
