Carrie—both Stephen King’s novel and the various adaptations that have followed it—is generally held up as one of the most enduring horror stories of the 20th century. But beyond that, it’s also a tragedy, as the full trailer for Prime Video’s new Carrie series, from showrunner Mike Flanagan, reminds. Just look how excited Carrie White (Summer H. Howell) is go to to public school with everyone else in Chamberlain, Maine. Look at her lovely joie de vivre as she mashes keys on the computer—perhaps the first time she’s ever used one, given the fundamentalist streak of her mother Margaret (Samantha Sloyan). Of course, that digital joy will not last for long, as the rest of the trailer makes clear.
