Casey Affleck and Miles Teller capture revenge thriller from American Sniper scribe

Casey Affleck and Miles Teller are getting their Javert and Jean Valjean on. While neither will be starring in the upcoming Les Misérables prequel (as far as we know), their upcoming film sounds like a close cousin of that famous confrontation. “When Fish and Game officer Jack Irigaray (Casey Affleck) joins a routine poacher arrest in the Black Rock Desert, a deadly encounter with renegade Claude Dallas (Miles Teller) shatters his reality and propels him into a relentless quest for vengeance—one that blurs the line between justice and obsession,” the official logline reads, per Deadline

The film, titled Wild Game, will be written, directed, and produced by American Sniper writer Jason Hall. It was inspired by Frank Bergon’s 1995 novel of the same name, which was itself based on “actual events that took place in Nevada during the 1980s,” per its synopsis. Hall previously worked with Teller on the former’s 2017 directorial debut, Thank You For Your Service, which starred the Top Gun: Maverick actor as a soldier returning home from Iraq. “I’m really looking forward to reuniting with Jason Hall on Wild Game,” Teller said in a statement. “We’ve had a great collaboration in the past on Thank You For Your Service, and I know he’s going to bring incredible depth to this story. Claude Dallas is such a complex and layered character—tough, relentless, and living by his own code. I can’t wait to get started with this team.”

“I couldn’t be more excited to be making this movie with Casey and Miles, two phenomenal talents who will get to go toe to toe with each other,” Hall added. Teller will next be seen starring opposite Anya Taylor-Joy in action-thriller The Gorge, which premieres Valentine’s Day. Casey Affleck was last seen in The Instigators, Slingshot, and last night’s Dunkin’ Super Bowl commercial with his brother Ben and a coffee-covered Jeremy Strong.
