Cassie Ventura takes the stand for first time in Sean

Sean “Diddy” Combs’ sex trafficking trial continued today as the prosecution’s star witness, recording artist and Combs’ ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura, took the stand. Ventura accused Combs of rape and a years-long pattern of abuse in 2023, an allegation that served as the impetus for hundreds that would be leveled against the music mogul in the coming years. Months later, a disturbing video that appeared to show Combs physically abusing Ventura in a hotel emerged, strengthening the prosecution’s growing case against him. He now faces five criminal counts including two counts of sex trafficking and two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution, per NBC News, all of which he has denied.

Today, Ventura testified about the toll Combs’ drug-fueled sex parties, which he called “freak-offs,” took on her, as well as the “violent arguments” and “physical abuse” she experienced during their relationship. The freak-offs, which involved Ventura “perform[ing]” for Combs by having sex with another man (usually an escort) “eventually… became a job for me,” according to her testimony (via The New York Times). When it started, Ventura was “confused, nervous, but also loved [Combs] very much,” she shared. Eventually, the encounters began to range from 36 hours to roughly four days, often without breaks, during which time she would suffer from dehydration and sleep deprivation. “There was no space to do anything else but to recover and just try to feel normal again,” she said of the encounters that made her feel “disgusting” and “humiliated.” Ventura’s experiences are incredibly detailed, and you can read the full report at NYT.

Ventura also detailed other forms of abuse she allegedly suffered at Combs’ hands. The mogul often commented on her physical appearance, she shared, commenting once that her hair looked “too Mexican.” She continued that she “had to look a certain way during freak-offs,” and that his comments had a drastic effect on her self-confidence. She also testified that Combs would often take away her electronic devices. “It depended on how long I was being punished for,” she said.

Ventura’s testimony is expected to last through the end of this week, per CBS News.
