Hail, Satan, here’s the trailer for Lilly Wachowski-produced series Cassie Workman Is Witchy AF

As the world spirals in its right-wing haze of hate speech and bigoted legislation, only one Australian transgender comedian has the guts to make a show about the occult featuring an Owen Wilson puppet. Enter: Cassie Workman is Witchy AF, a new YouTube series executive produced by Lilly Wachowski. Wachowski, who recently opined about the difficulties of getting her trans Weather Underground script produced because of its “wall-to-wall trans cast,” has found yet another way to terrify the world’s transphobes: Black magic infotainment.

The eight-part comedy documentary series takes viewers through the occult’s history, mythology, and impact on culture at large. Set in a fictional occult bookstore that’s loaded with puppets, the series dives deep on everything occult, from Aleister Crowley to tarot cards. With the help of guest stars, including Garbage’s Shirley Manson, and a demon raven named King Grimskwawk to whom Workman may or may not have sold her soul, Workman guides viewers through the absurd underworld with a drink firmly in hand.

A joint production with ETCH, Cassie Workman Is Witchy AF is the first from Wachowski’s production company, Anarchists United Studios, which “focuses on elevated genre projects created by artists from underrepresented communities.” We imagine transgender immigrant TV show hosts “created in a lab specifically to make Ron DeSantis angry” fall under that category.

The series premieres on YouTube on September 16.
