Cee Lo Green asks The Voice to stop the spinning chair, he wants off
In the whirling chair that is the vicissitudes of life, we may no longer count on the ballast that is Cee Lo Green, as the singer and syntax sensualist has announced to Ellen DeGeneres—and thus the world—that he will no longer be part of The Voice. “I’m not coming back at all,” Green said during DeGeneres’ interview with Lionel Richie, which suddenly became an interview about Cee Lo Green’s role on the televised singing competition, as Richie’s memories of when the spotlight was his, all his, danced upon the ceiling. The announcement that Green would not be returning to his coaching role after several intermittent hiatuses was soon followed by more official statements from both NBC and Green, who both reiterated that they would continue their relationship by collaborating on other projects, including Green possibly hosting a music show of his own, possibly even without chairs.
