Check out photos and videos from our Pioneering event in Chicago
Thanks to everyone who came to our big Pioneering finale party last week at Lincoln Hall. Below you’ll find some photos (taken by our own Dan Wilcox) of the event, as well as some animated GIFs that were miraculously created by Smilebooth. Super special thanks to Jukebox The Ghost and Eef Barzelay for providing the evening’s musical entertainment. There ended up being a veritable slew of cover songs performed: Barzelay did Frank Sinatra’s “All The Way,” Journey’s “Faithfully,” and—due to popular tweet-demand—Hank Williams’ “Ready To Go Home.”
We only had Jukebox The Ghost on the hook for one cover, of a pioneer of their choosing, but they ended up doing several more. For the pioneer, they chose the mighty David Bowie, and delivered a rousing version of “Life On Mars?” They also dropped in a stunning version of Shania Twain’s “Man! I Feel Like A Woman!” and an incredible mash-up of Huey Lewis’ “Power Of Love” and Ray Parker Jr.’s “Ghostbusters.” (You may notice some similarities.)
This was all a celebration of Pioneering, our web series—graciously sponsored by the Honda Civic Coupe—that found emerging artists talking about their musical heroes and then performing a song by that hero. You can see all of those great videos (and much more) right here. Thanks for joining us along the way—and check back soon for a video re-cap of the evening…
