Chicago, we've got tickets to see Boy Erased for free

Perhaps sparked by the believer in said “therapies” currently occupying the Vice President’s office, dramas about the practice of forced gay-conversion therapy are something of a mini-trend this year. First there was The Miseducation Of Cameron Post, which premiered back in late July. Now there’s Boy Erased, director Joel Edgerton’s follow-up to The Gift based on the memoir of the same name by Garrard Conley. Lucas Hedges stars as a 19-year-old preacher’s son Jared, who’s shipped off to a coercive “therapy” group designed to “cure” him of his homosexuality after he’s outed to his parents, played by Russell Crowe and Nicole Kidman.

Boy Erased opens tomorrow in theaters in New York and L.A., but we’ve got an opportunity for our readers in Chicago to see the film before its expansion on November 9. We’re giving away 50 admit-two passes to a screening of the film at the AMC River East this coming Tuesday, November 6 at 7:00 p.m., and to enter to win yours all you need to do is follow this link and enter some basic information. Just remember to arrive early, because advanced screenings are always overbooked to ensure capacity.
