Chris Brown generously just gave humankind another reason to hate him
If you are an empathetic, forgiving person, there might've even been room in your big ol' heart for the likes of celebrity domestic-abuser Chris Brown, a man whose triumphant night at the Grammys—he won an award for Best R&B album, and performed twice, once to a standing ovation—has been overshadowed by millions upon millions of people hating his guts for beating up Rihanna. A reasonable person could point out that Brown is far from the first famous singer to abuse women, or commit other horrible acts. Country singer Glen Campbell, to name just one example, was accused by ex-girlfriend Tanya Tucker of being a physically abusive partner, and yet there was none of the indignation about his well-received Grammy performance that's badgered Brown. Righteous anger is a sweet, addictive lager, and people especially enjoy drinking it at Brown's expense.
Yep, you certainly could make that argument if Brown didn't reveal himself to be such an immature, unrepentant person time and again. Just last night, Brown sent out a tweet showing that his lack of remorse or self-awareness about how he's perceived is still a problem: "HATE ALL U WANT BECUZ I GOT A GRAMMY Now! That's the ultimate FUCK OFF!" That's right, if you're a person who'd rather not support an artist who beats women and blames the media and "haters" rather than himself, Chris Brown wants you to go fuck yourself. Well, maybe not anymore: He took down the tweet soon after it was posted. But the damage has been done. This next round of Chris Brown hate is on us. [via Gawker]
