Chris Hemsworth to help Jay And Silent Bob Reboot
Confirming that it won’t just be old View Askewniverse friends who show up later this year to help Kevin Smith, Jason Mewes, Silent Bob, and Jay all Reboot themselves, Marvel star Chris Hemsworth hopped on Instagram last night to announce that he’ll be making an appearance in Smith’s upcoming Jay And Silent Bob Reboot.
And actually, this particular bit of casting feels weirdly appropriate, in so far as Hemsworth in kind of the living embodiment of Smith’s whole deal: A razor-sharp comedy star who is also, somehow, a blockbuster, big-budget comic book superhero. And a fan (or at least a listener), to boot: While doing press coverage for 2017's Thor: Ragnarok, Hemsworth talked about hearing Smith bash the Thor movies on a podcast, helping to incite him to push for the tonal changes that transformed the franchise from faux-Shakespearean dross into an oddball buddy comedy delight.
There are no details yet on what sort of part Hemsworth will be playing—including whether he’ll be playing a character, or just cameo-ing as himself—but he’s just the latest celebrity to lend a little star power to Smith’s efforts to bring his beloved stoner duo back to theaters; other announced cameos and parts include Method Man and Redman, plus Chasing Amy and Clerks 2 alums Joey Lauren Adams and Rosario Dawson.
