Christina Applegate doesn't have MS:

Christina Applegate has taken to her podcast to tell the world she was misdiagnosed with MS. Over two episodes of MeSsy, the Married… With Children and Dead To Me star revealed and then tried to process her latest health update, which Applegate says has put her back at “square one.” “You don’t get misdiagnosed and then all of the sudden I’m better,” she said. “If anything, I’ve gotten worse in some ways.” The former actor became emotional during the conversation, saying she felt like she’d “let everybody down” after becoming a public advocate for people suffering from the disease. Applegate retired from acting after receiving the life-altering diagnosis in 2021, but not before pushing through the news to film the finale of Dead To Me following a five-month shut down as she began treatment. She’s since moved on to podcasting with MeSsy, teaming with The Sopranos star Jamie-Lynn Sigler to share their experiences with and promote awareness of the disease. Sigler revealed her secret MS diagnosis in 2016, after being diagnosed fifteen years earlier.

The two-episode drop of MeSsy marks Applegate’s return to the podcast after a seven-month break for health reasons. She says that her symptoms and ongoing health problems, which she and her doctors long thought were due to MS, persist—though the cause is now unclear. “I have every symptom of someone with MS. Every single one,” she said. “Now, we both know that there are many things that mirror MS—many different things.” Neurologist Dr. Marwa Kaisey, who joined the episode in conversation with Applegate, explained that MS misdiagnoses are not uncommon. (MS is a disease of the central nervous system, and symptoms and disease progression vary from person to person.) “It’s clear now that they’re finding something different,” Applegate said. “Something else is going on.”

“It’s a mindfuck, for sure.”
