Conan O'Brien's podcast debuts later this month, has an incredible lineup of guests
Conan O’Brien will debut his new, 30-minute version of Conan when it returns to TBS next year, and in the meantime he’s both embarking on his first live tour since 2010 and launching a podcast, Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend, which we’ve just learned will feature a guest lineup worthy of the host’s pedigree.
Kristen Bell, Nick Offerman, Marc Maron, Wanda Sykes, and Bill Burr are just a few of the names on the docket, and you can hear snippets from each of their breezy, congenial interviews via this audio trailer. O’Brien will kick off the 36-week series on Monday, November 19, when he sits down for a chat with Will Ferrell.
“After 25 years of extensive market research we have learned that people want to hear my voice without seeing my face. So rejoice, America,” says O’Brien in a press release.
Sure, there’s no shortage of podcasts out there—“I was told there were very few of these,” O’Brien cracks to Maron in the trailer—but what’s exciting about this one, in particular, is that we’ve never really had the chance to hear Conan sit down for extended talks with his celebrity guests. The talk show format simply doesn’t allow for that. The loose, rambling podcast style, then, could potentially bring out even more shades of the venerable host.
Below, see the podcast’s schedule through the end of the year, and expect more guests to be announced at a later date.
November 19—Will Ferrell
November 26—Kristen Bell
December 3—Bill Burr
December 10—Dax Shepard
December 17—Nick Offerman & Megan Mullally
December 24—Wanda Sykes
December 31—Marc Maron
