Linda Cardellini lets her unhinged side out in the full trailer for Peacock's Crystal Lake

The full trailer for the streamer's Friday The 13th prequel makes it clear that there's something a little off about local grieving mother Pam Voorhees.

Linda Cardellini lets her unhinged side out in the full trailer for Peacock's Crystal Lake

A24 and Peacock have been futzing around with their idea for a TV-based Friday The 13th prequel for a few years at this point, having burnt all the way through Bryan Fuller’s earlier version of Crystal Lake before finally settling on the show’s current, nearly ready-to-air incarnation. And while we’ll note that we’re not sold about everything about the new trailer for the series that dropped online today—notably, its suggestion that Pamela Voorhees and her son Jason are somehow the product of Mad Science/writers with a hankering for egregious backstory—we will say this: If you want someone to sell “deranged mom” for your TV show in 2026, it’s pretty hard to beat Linda Cardellini.

Indeed, Cardellini (still fresh off a mesmerizing and unsettling turn in DTF St. Louis) is one of the big draws of this first trailer, which sees her Pam working as the lunch lady at the famously unsafe summer camp, before tragedy turns her into the town wacko. Presented with a nice ’70s sheen, the Crystal Lake trailer doesn’t go too far into how the show will wrap itself around existing Friday mythology. But even if you don’t know the twist of the franchise’s original film, it’s easy to see that Cardellini is going to make the most of Pamela’s transition from somewhat normal mom into a force of machete-armed vengeance before the show’s eight episodes are out.

Showrun by IT: Welcome To Derry‘s Brad Caleb Kane, Crystal Lake is currently aiming itself at an October 15 premiere. William Catlett, Devin Kessler, Cameron Scoggins, and Gwendolyn Sundstrom all co-star in the series.
