Daniel Radcliffe joins that Tracy Morgan-Tina Fey pilot

So it’s going to be that kind of wacky. The Hollywood Reporter reports this afternoon that Daniel Radcliffe has joined the still-untitled comedy pilot starring Tracy Morgan. Morgan will star as Reggie, a disgraced ex-football player who sets out to repair his public image. Radcliffe’s character sounds like it will be a key part of that mission; he’s set to play Arthur Tobin, a documentarian who moves into Reggie’s mansion to make an “immersive” film about the athlete. The pilot was ordered by NBC, and the outlet notes that should the pilot go to series, it will be Radcliffe’s first major role on an American broadcast series.

And there’s good reason to think that the pilot could go to series. Outside of the pedigree of its cast, the pilot will see Morgan reunite with his longtime Saturday Night Live and 30 Rock co-star Tina Fey, who is executive producing. The script comes from Robert Carlock, who won a handful of Emmys as a 30 Rock producer, and Sam Means, who also has worked with the team on Girls5Eva and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, per Variety

This isn’t Radcliffe’s first time working with this crew, either. The actor appeared in 2020’s one-off Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt special Kimmy Vs The Reverend. Last year, Radcliffe won a Tony Award for his performance in Merrily We Roll Along, and portrayed “Weird Al” Yankovic in 2022’s Weird: The Al Yankovic story. He’s also, of course, Harry Potter.
