Denise Richards and Casper Van Dien team up again for No Free Lunch

Not since that halcyon era when Clancy Brown could plunge a knife straight through Jake Busey’s hand from fifty paces have actors Denise Richards and Casper Van Dien shared the big screen. Such a cinematic wrong must be put right, for the fabric of space cannot sustain itself unless the actors who once co-starred as fictional space-war heroes Johnny Rico and Carmen Ibanez can occupy the same camera frame again. This error is rightfully being corrected with the upcoming thriller No Free Lunch, from Abraxas, Guardian Of The Universe and Ski School director Damian Lee, for Horizon Line and March On Entertainment. Richards and Van Dien play FBI agents! Like Scully and Mulder.

According to Deadline, the Starship Troopers co-stars have reportedly finished shooting in Hamilton, Ontario, Horizon and March’s production hub, where films such as Silent Nightfall with Stana Katic and Elisha Cuthbert and Greatest Actress starring Mena Suvari and C. Thomas Howell are also in production. Here’s the wild synopsis:

“Mother-daughter duo (Arcadia Kendal, Lara Daans) fight for their lives after a college drop-off goes awry. Kidnapped by a deranged former surgeon (Sebastian Pigott) pining to fulfill a promise to his dead mother, their relationship is tested through a series of sadistic games as he plots to woo and marry one of them. Before his planned murder-suicide can unfold, detectives and FBI agents (Denise Richards, Casper Van Dien), on the slimmest of leads, race to rescue mother and daughter.”

There’s something about this new film that’s almost too awesome to dismiss out of hand, especially the comic potential of seeing a grizzled Van Dien growl out the title of his new film. No Free Lunch is tentatively scheduled for release in spring 2027.
