Desperate Housewives to end in 2012
After eight seasons of lives spent in loud desperation, ABC will announce this weekend that it will end Desperate Housewives in May, presumably passing the torch of its formula to the forthcoming Good Christian Belles, which sounds exactly like it. While former fans have complained about increasingly outlandish plots and time-jumps and may thus see this as a long time coming, this probably doesn’t come as a surprise to those whose familiarity with the series comes entirely from show business news either, where each dawn seemingly brought fresh accounts of nasty, prolonged salary negotiations, or Nicolette Sheridan suing creator Marc Cherry for allegedly slapping her, or Marcia Cross swooping down to incinerate an entire village for stealing her eggs, all of which ABC surely found exhausting after a while.
