Dinosaur Jr. and Scharpling & Wurster goodies coming for Record Store Day 2014
Record Store Day is a little over two months away, so labels are starting to drop hints about what illustrious, incredibly limited product they’ll be shuttling to stores this April 19. So far, there are two real standouts. First, there’s Numero Group’s Dinosaur Jr. 7-inch package, which includes five of the band’s early singles alongside previously unissued artwork by Maura Jasper. The package is limited to 5,000 copies and includes tracks like “Repulsion,” “Freak Scene,” and the band’s cover of The Byrds’ “Feel A Whole Lot Better.”
Also of interest to A.V. Club readers is the LP release of “Rock, Rot & Rule,” a long-hailed bit of comedy from Scharpling & Wurster. Originally recorded in 1999, Ronald Clontle’s hardline thoughts on music have long been a topic of discussion among record fans and industry professionals alike, and the limited-edition red vinyl seems like the perfect addition to an already-nerdy collection. A standard black LP will also be issued later this summer, but who wants that?
