Dum Dum Dugan
Who he is: Timothy Aloysius Dugan, a.k.a. “Dum Dum” Dugan
His power: Not a superhero, just a soldier.
His Story: An Allied soldier in World War II, we first encounter Dum Dum Dugan as a prisoner of war in Captain America: The First Avenger, shortly before being freed by Cap—at which point he hops in a tank and unleashes some revenge on his captors. Following that, he joins Captain America’s elite special unit—nicknamed the Howlin’ Commandos—and they systematically defeat and dismantle Hydra’s European operations. He drinks, he smokes, he kills Nazis…he has a good time.
After Captain America’s disappearance and supposed death, Dugan takes over leading the Commandos, and in Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D., we see Dugan and Peggy Carter in flashback, taking down the last known Hydra base, in Austria, at the end of the war. We see Dugan in action once more after the war, in Agent Carter, where he again helps Peggy and SSR agent Jack Thompson in infiltrating a Leviathan base in Russia, which ends with them smuggling out an imprisoned scientist. His last appearance is a brief one: Years later, he’s seen poolside with Howard Stark in Washington, admiring the invention of the bikini. (Shown in the Marvel One-Shot: Agent Carter.)
Played by: Neal McDonough
Currently, Dum Dum Dugan is: Probably R.I.P., barring any mid-century period pieces (à la the first Captain America film) or flashbacks.
Where will we see him next? Now that Agent Carter has ended, it’s unlikely Dum Dum Dugan will return.
