Eliza Dushku joins the cast of Banshee, delighting that one guy who watches Banshee
If Rule 34 of the internet states that, “If it exists, there is porn of it,” then Rule 201 may very well be that, “If a television show exists, then someone is bingeing it.” Yes, even Leverage.
Therefore, someone, somewhere is bingeing Cinemax’s Banshee right now, and that person will be delighted to learn that Eliza Dushku is joining the cast of the action-drama series. Banshee, from producer Alan Ball, is set in the small town of Banshee in Pennsylvania Amish country. The series follows an enigmatic ex-con, played by Antony Starr, who assumes the identity of the town’s murdered sheriff and dispenses his own brand of justice. Banshee generally airs in between Lingerie reruns and the latest Emmanuelle knock-off. It is not part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Dushku—perhaps best known as Faith from her turns on Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Angel—will recur as Agent Veronica Dawson, a tough, sexy FBI profiler. Dawson will presumably have no shortage of personal demons, as that is a prerequisite for every character in a contemporary drama series. Hardcore Whedonites are encouraged to set their DVRs and call off work in order to catch up before the new season starts.
Banshee was renewed for a fourth season in February; no premiere date has been set.
