John, who is co-writing the musical with playwright and humorist Paul Rudnick, said in a statement that “re-imagining The Devil Wears Prada for the musical theater is super exciting.” He added: “I’m a huge fan of both the book and the feature film, and a huge aficionado of the fashion world. I can’t wait to sink my musical teeth into this hunk of popular culture.” We can’t wait to see what ballad John weaves from Meryl Streep‘s cerulean speech. It’s worth noting, however, that the flopped American Psycho show had a song riffing on the names of designers, so he may want to avoid doing that.
