Even Tim Burton not into the idea of a Tim Burton-style take on Sleeping Beauty
Already exhausted by the recent spate of Alice In Wonderland(’s profits)-inspired, Tim Burton-style dark fairytale re-imaginings, Tim Burton himself has backed out of Maleficent, which would have reteamed him with Disney for another attempt to create billion-dollar magic with his take on Sleeping Beauty. Undaunted, Disney is moving forward with the film—a live-action version that will star Angelina Jolie as the villainous queen who occasionally morphs into a disconcertingly sexy dragon—possibly with Harry Potter director David Yates. Indeed, they must hurry, as there are already other Sleeping Beauty projects waiting in the wings and, of course, there are only a few years left to get every dark fairytale script in theaters before they all magically transform into butterflies and are borne away on the wind, apparently.
