Fox celebrates Napoleon Dynamite’s 10th anniversary with creepy statue

It’s nice that Fox Searchlight decided to honor its endlessly quotable quirk-a-thon Napoleon Dynamite with a commemorative statue, but seriously, what happened? Is it made of melted pennies? Did they forget it take it out of the dryer? Were they trying to save money by reusing an old Han Solo carbonite mold? Distressing portraiture aside, star Jon Heder, director Jared Hess, and most of the Napoleon Dynamite cast reunited on the Fox lot in Los Angeles yesterday to celebrate the indie smash’s tenth anniversary. The festivities included a panel discussion and an appearance by Tina the llama—but not Aaron Ruell, aka Kip, who was presumably too busy chatting online with babes to attend.
