FX renews American Horror Story for a seventh season
In news that will produce no shock but perhaps a little bit of fright, FX has renewed American Horror Story for another season, the network announced today. The anthology series is currently in the midst of its sixth installment, a Roanoke-set pseudo documentary. This year—in need of a gimmick—Ryan Murphy and company left the theme a mystery prior to the premiere, teasing the series’ return with unrelated promos. Murphy, however, recently told Entertainment Weekly that the surprises aren’t over as there’s a “huge turn” coming in episode six. Regardless of whether that provokes cheers or groans, FX wants more. “Ryan, Brad [Falchuk] and their team of remarkable writers have done an amazing job of keeping American Horror Story endlessly inventive, shocking and entertaining and we are honored to move ahead with them on the seventh installment,” FX chief John Landgraf said in a statement.
Murphy also divulged to EW that he is working on a “secret season,” which is not the seventh, though he said he already has plans for that one as well.
