FX renews Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll for a second season

Fans of Denis Leary’s mullet wig have reason to celebrate today: The hairpiece will continue to do business in the front and party in the back as FX renews Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll for a second season. The ever-sarcastic Leary sounds almost enthusiastic about the news in a press release, saying, “The only thing that could make me happier about this announcement is if David Bowie decided to be a guest star during season two. In which case, my head would explode. Hopefully on-camera so we get a kickass viral video out of it. Not to mention awesome Live+3s.”

Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll stars Leary as Johnny Rock, a misanthropic, self-destructive rock bandleader who somewhat resembles Paul Westerberg, but who knows when there are so many famous rock ‘n’ roll assholes to choose from. Johnny’s band The Heathens broke up on the verge of becoming “the next big thing” in the early ’90s, and 25 years later they’ve reunited as the backup band for Johnny’s daughter, Gigi (Elizabeth Gillies). Winking references and music-industry drama follow.

Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll’s 10-episode second season will debut on FX sometime in 2016, barring any screaming, glass-throwing onstage meltdowns in the interim.
