According to a police report, Kevin Gerald Knoblich “just wanted to tell members of Third Eye Blind that he enjoyed their performance” at the Georgia Theatre. “He said that he was told to leave and was later slapped and punched for no reason by the band’s tour manager,” the report continued.
Accounts from all other parties involved in the standoff differ slightly from Knoblich’s measured retelling, however. According to Third Eye Blind’s manager Lucas McKnees, Knoblich was visibly intoxicated and repeatedly refused to leave the bus, which led to their scuffle. Georgia Theatre staff also reported that after being tossed from the bus like a circa 2002 mix CD, Knoblich stood outside, shouting curses, as well as, presumably, “so this is how’s it going to be!” and “doo-doo-doo, doo-doo-doo-doo!”
When police arrived on the scene, they found a group of people pointing at Knoblich, who was clad in a ripped polo shirt and an aura of unspeakable existential despair. The authorities promptly arrested Knoblich and charged him with disorderly conduct and public intoxication.
