Harry Potter fans get power line moved from Dobby's fictional grave to real Bronze Age burial site

That was in 2022, but fans are still extremely serious about the grave. According to The Guardian, the 125-mile cable called the Greenlink interconnector, which connects the United Kingdom’s National Grid, was supposed to pass through the site. Simon Ludlam, the project manager, said on the Energy Revolution podcast (via The Guardian) that after explaining the project on a BBC News broadcast, his office was inundated with “hundreds of calls” complaining that Dobby’s grave was going to be desiccated. “I said: ‘Dobby, who’s Dobby? I don’t know Dobby?'” said Ludlam.”I said: ‘He’s a fictitious character in a fictitious book, the whole thing is fictitious, what are you talking about?'” 

The project did hire some planners to change the route, though Ludlam says, ultimately, “we went quite close to some real Bronze Age remains, but we avoided Dobby’s grave.” Presumably (or hopefully) the project doesn’t pose any issue to the Bronze Age remains, given that the team was aware of their presence. Still, The Guardian reports that the site contains “urns associated with human burial,” so the power line is now much closer to an actual, real gravesite than it would have been.
