Harry Potter series somehow still adding actors to first season

The upcoming television adaptation of Harry Potter And The Philosopher’s Stone has somehow just added another three actors to its roster. We say “somehow” not because we’re surprised that people continue to sign up for the series despite a round of backlash coming with every announcement; we’re a bit surprised because that first season premieres on Christmas Day, which, we must note, is less than two months away. This Harry Potter, which HBO has reportedly been spending Game Of Thrones finale-level money on, has already been casting its second season for months.

Anyway, the first season, titled after and adapted from the first book in the series, Harry Potter And The Philosopher’s Stone, has cast Jasper Talbot and Hannah Chinn to play Harry’s parents, James and Lily Potter, respectively, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Neither one has too many major credits at this point, though they do seem to be closer in age to James and Lily’s book ages than the characters were depicted in the original film series from the 2000s, who were played by actors in their 30s and 40s. James and Lily, who die before the events of the first book, had Harry not long after graduating from Hogwarts themselves and mostly appear in the film series in flashbacks. Also joining the cast is Harry Gilby, who will play Ron Weasley’s older brother Charlie, who fans of the books may recall as the brother who loves dragons.
