Fans of Tom Hardy doing accent work, rejoice. His voice in the Havoc teaser falls closer on the spectrum to Eddie Brock than Bane, but we’ll be monitoring the situation to hear more dialogue before making an official ruling. In the meantime, you can get a taste for the latest from Gareth Evans (The Raid) in the new Netflix teaser ahead of the premiere on April 25.
The Havoc teaser is just that: chaos, bloodshed, gun violence, and very little that gives away the plot. But hey, that’s what a teaser should be, right? There’s stylish action, a trendy soundtrack (Fontaines D.C.’s “Starburster”) and cool guys (Hardy, Forrest Whitaker, and Timothy Olyphant) trading quips and threats. If you’re not drawn in by those enticing ingredients, this might not be the film for you.
But if you really want to know what’s going on with the movie, here’s the story: Havoc follows Walker (Hardy), “a bruised detective fighting his way through the criminal underworld threatening to engulf his city. After a drug deal gone wrong, Walker finds himself with several factions on his tail, including a vengeful crime syndicate and a crooked politician, as well as his fellow cops,” reads a synopsis from Netflix. “While attempting to rescue the politician’s estranged son, whose involvement in the drug deal starts to unravel a deep web of corruption and conspiracy, Walker is forced to confront the demons of his past.” Havoc also stars Jessie Mei Li (Shadow And Bone), Justin Cornwell (The Umbrella Academy), Luis Guzmán (Wednesday) and more.
