When The A.V. Club spoke to Atwell this week about the Dubsmash craze and what Peggy Carter would do, she said that her previous lip-syncing experience is limited to faking along to Top Of The Pops with a hairbrush microphone (mostly Madonna, she says). It only took two takes to get the “Single Ladies” right—mostly she was just nervous about performing with Miss Piggy, whom Atwell calls “a legend.” For each 10-second Dubsmash, Atwell and Team Carter are trying to create a little story, which Atwell thinks will give them the edge (Team S.H.I.E.L.D., Atwell told us, seems to be doing the best with what they have, but pointed out that she’s already done “Wrecking Ball”—as has just about everybody else). Though she wouldn’t tell us what round two might entail, Atwell says she’s game for pretty much anything (except “God Save The Queen,” out of respect), but reckons that Peggy wouldn’t be caught lip-syncing: “She knows her value. Peggy would probably just be singing in a lounge bar with a bourbon in her hand.”
Is there anybody in the S.H.I.E.L.D. cast she’s afraid to square off against? “Absolutely not.”
