HBO renews The Newsroom and True Blood
Striking one bold blow against complacency and incompetence, then talking about it in a self-congratulatory monologue, HBO has picked up The Newsroom for a second season. The Aaron Sorkin-created show now has another year to address those critical complaints that it's overly didactic and repetitive—provided those criticisms were written on actual paper and not the stupid Internet—or maybe just dig up a whole bunch of things from two years ago that it's easy to get self-righteous about now. At the same time, the network also renewed True Blood for a sixth season, giving the show another year to just keep on serving up the vampire sex because that's been working out great.
