Here they are: the Undercover 2012 songs

We are tickled to announce the song list for A.V. Undercover 2012, the third year of our dwindling-list covers series. (You remember the drill: We make this list, with your help, and then bands come to our round room and cover the songs. Once a song has been covered, it's off the list. Last band in must play the last song.) So we made some categories, you voted for your favorites, then you submitted other songs for us to consider. In a very unscientific process that involved most of The A.V. Club standing around my computer going, "Ooh yeah, that would be awesome," we came up with this final list of 25. The series will launch on March 13, the week of South By Southwest Music—where we'll once again be hosting a kick-ass party. (Details are coming this week.) Anyway, here's the final list, along with the results of the voting. As you'll see, only one really close call, in the Michael Jackson category.
