Netflix’s ongoing acquisition of top-tier talent is evident in its February lineup of offerings, which includes new movies from both Steven Soderbergh and Nightcrawler’s Dan Gilroy. Jake Gyllenhaal, who delivered one of the best performances of his career in Nightcrawler, returns to Gilroy’s orbit for Velvet Buzzsaw, a delirious art-horror piece that finds its enticing cast—Toni Collette, Rene Russo, John Malkovich, Daveed Diggs—slaughtered by paintings come to life. Soderbergh, meanwhile, is reviving his relationship with The Knick’s André Holland for High Flying Bird, an iPhone-shot sports drama written by Moonlight scribe Tarrell Alvin McCraney. The former premieres on February 1, while the latter lands on February 8.
Elsewhere, you’ll find stand-up specials from Ken Jeong and Ray Romano, as well as the return of Hasan Minhaj’s weekly talk show, Patriot Act. A new season of Chef’s Table should satiate you foodies, as should a south-of-the-border spin on the streamer’s amateur baking competition Nailed It.
Also, if for some reason you’re depriving yourself of One Day At A Time, Norman Lear’s warm, vital remake of his ‘70s-era sitcom, you still have time to binge its first two seasons. The series, which stars Rita Moreno and Justina Machado, will return for its third outing on February 8.
