Hey Chicago, come see Eddie Pepitone present a screening of The Bitter Buddha, moderated by Nathan Rabin

Comedian, podcaster, bon vivant, and all-around personality Eddie Pepitone has been one of the comedy world’s most unexpected success stories of the past few years. In a pop-culture world obsessed with youth, Pepitone has emerged as the Grandma Moses of comedy, a late-bloomer whose career only took off after he passed 50. Pepitone has been ubiquitous as of late, popping up on Community and 2 Broke Girls, turning up regularly on Conan (as a belligerent heckler) and live episodes of WTF, and appearing alongside Sean Conroy, Jamie Flam, and Amber Kenny on The Long Shot Podcast.

Now the story of Pepitone’s late-in-life ascent up the show-business ladder has been turned into a documentary titled The Bitter Buddha, after Sean Conroy’s nickname for the perpetually apoplectic spiritual seeker. And those in Chicago can see a screening of the film with Pepitone live in person, at the city’s Music Box theater Friday, March 15^.. The 9:30 p.m. show also featuring director Steven Feinartz will be followed by a Q&A moderated by The A.V. Club’s own Nathan Rabin. You can get tickets here.
