Paradise heads out of the bunker in the season 2 trailer

In a TV landscape where streaming shows can take a long time to produce a new season, we’ve been lauding stuff like The Pitt and Slow Horses for being an annual presence in our lives. Let’s add Paradise to that list because, after its January 2025 debut, the Emmy-nominated Hulu series has already plotted its way back to the screen. Season two will begin airing next month, and the new trailer promises some exciting above-ground action.

If you need a refresher, Paradise takes place three years after a supervolcano destroyed the planet, forcing a select group of 25,000 people to live in an underground bunker city that resembles and operates in a freakishly similar manner to the real world. The residents include former Secret Service agent Xavier Collins (Sterling K. Brown), who is accused of killing the former POTUS, Cal Bradford (James Marsden). Season one follows Xavier’s mission to prove himself innocent and find the real culprit, all while secrets are revealed about the true billionaire mastermind of the bunker, Sam “Sinatra” Redmond (Julianne Nicholson).

The finale cliffhanger saw Xavier realizing that the outside world is habitable, and that his wife is likely alive, so he flew out of there to track her down. Season two’s newly released trailer reveals that he still hasn’t found Teri (Enuka Okuma), but he has made a new friend. Enter: Shailene Woodley, who appears to be portraying a survivalist who saves Xavier after his plane crashes. “Out here, the little things will kill you,” she warns him. The footage also reveals that other survivors know about the bunker’s existence, and they’re on a mission to get in, even if it means using violent methods to do so. Meanwhile, Sinatra is under investigation for her crimes, but she might be the only one who can save the residents from an impending war.

Created by This Is UsDan Fogelman, the show also stars Sarah Shahi, Krys Marshal, Nicole Brydon Bloom, Aliyah Mastin, and Percy Daggs IV, with Thomas Doherty and Timothy Omundson joining the cast this year. Paradise season two premieres with three episodes on February 23, with the rest of the episodes rolling out weekly on Hulu.
