Inside Disney's Animation Research Library, the repository for 100 years of Disney artwork

In managing director Mary Walsh’s words, the Disney Animation Research Library is a massive repository “for all the original artwork that was created for both the short and feature length [Disney] animated films, from the 1920s stuff at the very beginning up until present day.” The ARL has long been a resource from which generations of Disney animators could pull inspiration. We sat down with Walsh to talk about the history of the ARL, and what makes it unique.
