Hey, you know how it is with Nachos: You can never stop yourself at just one. Such is the dilemma of movie star Jack Black, who—12 years, and any number of more successful movies after the fact—apparently still can’t stop himself from pining after all the yolk-slurping, corn-throwing action of Jared Hess’ Nacho Libre. Per Deadline, Black recently waxed nostalgic about Hess’ Napoleon Dynamite follow-up on the U.K.’s Jonathan Ross Show, expressing his continued hope that Nacho fever might once again sweep the American people in all its bizarre, vaguely-based-on-a-true-story glory.
Specifically, Black told Ross that he’s “always wanted to do another Nacho Libre,” revisiting the character of wrestling man-child Ignacio and his moderately box office-friendly antics. (The film made $99 million off of a $35 million budget, which, given the reception that greeted later Hess films like Don Verdean and Masterminds, makes it a bona fide success.) And honestly, we kind of get it: Ignacio is a very specific sort of Jack Black character, a sweet-natured id monster of the kind that the The House With A Clock In Its Walls star doesn’t really get a chance to play anymore. (Meanwhile, we’re still holding out hope that he and Ben Stiller can work things out in Envy 2: Even More Dog Poo.)
