The DC Studios heads will "be invited to say" following the Paramount Skydance-Warner Bros. merger, according to a report.

James Gunn, Peter Safran are Skydance-proof, at least for now

Just in case anybody was worried that DC Studios would be affected by the Paramount Skydance-Warner Bros. studio merger, rest assured that it’s business as usual in Metropolis, at least for now. According to a new Puck column by former Hollywood Reporter editor Matthew Belloni, which details the internal positioning of roles at the company as the merger nears completion, James Gunn and Peter Safran will likely remain co-CEOs at the studio. So don’t go freaking out about some kind of post-merger, New 52-style DC Universe reboot where a completely recast Justice Gang fights the Decepticons or whatever. “I’m told Gunn and Safran will be invited to stay on at DC, at least initially,” Belloni wrote, before couching the obvious in parentheses, “(Again, Paramount is not confirming or commenting on any of this.)”

As the announcement that Paramount and Warner Bros. will soon exist as “Skydance” still rings in our ears, further DC details are scarce. However, one Instagram post appears to support Belloni’s reporting: Gunn, who is currently working on the Superman sequel, Man Of Tomorrow, posted the video Skydance CEO David Ellison shared on Friday morning heralding a new dawn for the soon-to-be-united corporation. “What once was the peak, is now just the beginning,” Gunn wrote in his post. And while this suggests that Gunn is optimistic about the prospects of this merger—at least publicly—we mustn’t rule out the possibility that Ellison will want his toys to interact with DC’s one day. Just think: Ethan Hunt could be the next Green Lantern! Maybe the A Quiet Place aliens could invade Gotham City! Jonah Hex on Yellowstone! The dismal possibilities are endless.
