Jeff Mangum tours the east coast, books The Raincoats and Young Marble Giants for ATP

No longer the stuff of mere legend, Neutral Milk Hotel’s Jeff Mangum has climbed out of his aluminum-foil-and-Paste-Magazine-papered cave and rejoined the land of the living and touring. As we reported earlier, the erstwhile recluse was announced as headlining two nights during the upcoming, Portishead-curated All Tomorrow’s Parties offshoot I’ll Be Your Mirror. Today it’s been announced that Mangum has been asked to curate one of the two weekends at the real-deal All Tomorrow’s Parties taking place next December in Butlins, Minehead. It’s like, you start answering your phone again and suddenly they just give you a festival.

Anyway, Mangum has already picked out a handful of the 40-some acts that will play during ATP (besides himself), and they’re pretty awesome—like, The Raincoats performing their self-titled debut awesome, alongside a reunited Young Marble Giants, The Olivia Tremor Control, and The Magic Band, who will presumably pay tribute to the recently departed Captain Beefheart. They’ll all be playing alongside other confirmed acts Superchunk, The Apples In Stereo, A Hawk And A Hacksaw, and Tinariwen. Tickets for ATP go on sale this Friday.

As a warm-up to his transatlantic jaunt, Mangum will also be playing a series of east coast dates beginning in August. All relevant Mangum solo dates are below:
