Jem And The Holograms coming to HBO Now in July, along with actual good stuff
It’s the first day of summer, and you can celebrate the occasion by scheduling time to stay in the air-conditioned indoors to watch all the stuff that’s coming to HBO Now next month. HBO’s standalone streaming service has just rolled out its July offerings, which include the airless Jem And The Holograms film adaptation as well as movies and TV shows you’ll actually want to watch.
Straight Outta Compton, Suffragette, Blackhat, and Our Brand Is Crisis join Jem in the recent releases slate, balanced by older favorites like Ghost, Jackie Brown, Ali, and The Neverending Story. But next month is far more notable for its TV premieres: On July 10, HBO is debuting The Night Of miniseries, an adaptation of Criminal Justice that stars John Turturro, Riz Ahmed (Rogue One, Four Lions), and Michael K. Williams. Then on July 17, Danny McBride’s Vice Principals will be in session; the ribald comedy stars McBride and Walton Goggins as ultra-competitive educators who really want Bill Murray’s (fictional) job.
Elsewhere on HBO Now, and Jason Bourne and Absolutely Fabulous followers will get their First Looks at those movies in mid-July, while Looking fans will get some much needed closure when executive producer Andrew Haigh’s film/coda premieres on July 23. Plenty of movies are leaving HBO Now in July, including Freddy Got Fingered, in case you want to watch that movie without going to jail.
