Jordan Firstman takes "found family" very literally in first Club Kid trailer

The I Love LA and English Teacher comedian makes his directorial debut.

Jordan Firstman takes

Spending a lot of your nights and weekends at the club mean that there are going to be things that you don’t remember in the cold light of day. For Jordan Firstman‘s character in Club Kid, his feature directorial debut, this apparently means forgetting that he conceived of a whole child. Of course, pregnancy resulting from one night stands are not all that uncommon in media, but they become less so when the father is gay, as Firstman’s character is presented in the new trailer for Club Kid, which A24 released this morning. But hey, stranger things happen every day.

In Club Kid, Firstman plays a club promoter who wears T-shirts professing his love for Björk and bareback and who spends his early mornings doing party drugs in a Brooklyn apartment. He doesn’t seem to be super keen to stop doing any of those things with the arrival of his son, played by Reggie Absolom. For those familiar with Firstman’s work, Club Kid looks much sweeter and more wholesome than we might expect to see from the guy who made a bunch of butthole jokes at his Cannes premiere. But the film was warmly received in France in May, and makes its way to NYFF and TIFF this fall before opening everywhere on November 6.
