Rossella Grassi is really going for headlines in her debut. Gascón will star opposite Buffalo ’66 and The Brown Bunny director Vincent Gallo, who’s no stranger to controversy himself. The actor-director landed himself in hot water again recently (after a whole lifetime of swimming in it) when three female actors reported that the director held sexually aggressive auditions for his upcoming Golden State Killer film, The Policeman. One actor reported to SAG that Gallo required the cast’s “‘minds and bodies be 100 percent dominated by him’ from the moment they arrived on set,” and somehow he’s not the one playing the devil.
Instead, he’ll portray a “tormented character named Gabriel, who lives in a small New York apartment and becomes persecuted by Post-its left in the building’s elevator. These messages ‘order him to commit atrocious murders of three other tenants who, in turn, want to kill their next-of-kin,'” per the film’s promotional materials, as viewed by Variety.
This won’t be the first time Gascón and Rossella Grassi collaborate. The Emilia Pérez actor was previously featured in the voice cast for Rossella Grassi’s 2019 short Preludio, which also featured Isabella Rossellini. Gascón’s other upcoming films include Las Mala, directed by Birdman co-writer Armando Bó, and Men And Other Inconveniences, a comedy by Giorgio Serafini.
