Looks like shooting your own movie in a convenience store can pay off after all (especially after the becoming famous and merchandising part): Kevin Smith has signed up with The CW to direct a pilot for Reaper, which Variety says is about "a 21-year-old slacker who ends up becoming Satan's bounty hunter, retrieving souls lost from Hell." Smith did executive produce the animated TV adaptation of Clerks, but didn't direct the episodes.
