Who he is: Korath, a.k.a. Korath The Pursuer
His power: Korath seems to have superhuman strength and durability, but we don’t see enough of him to a sense of anything beyond that. The comic book source material has a lot more on the guy, if you’re curious.
His story: Korath is a minor player in the story of Guardians Of The Galaxy. He’s been sent by Ronan to recover the orb containing an Infinity Stone, and happens upon Peter Quill stealing it on the abandoned planet Morag. Quill shoots Korath in the chest and makes his escape, but Korath is a tough cookie, and is fine moments later. He informs Ronan of the orb’s theft, and stays by the fanatical Kree’s side, even after Ronan betrays Thanos, keeping the orb for himself. However, Korath is then killed by Drax The Destroyer during the Guardians’ attack aboard Ronan’s ship. Drax actually rips out Korath’s cybernetic headpiece; it’s pretty hardcore.
