Kristen Stewart is in talks for a queer holiday rom-com
Hollywood has been enjoying a Kristen Stewartaissance for a few years now, with the former Twilight star leaving the shiny vampires behind for starring roles in what feels like dozens of well-received indie movies. She’ll also be starring in Elizabeth Banks’ Charlie’s Angels reboot with Naomi Scott and Ella Balinska. According to Variety, Stewart’s now in talks to star in Happiest Season, a romantic comedy set at the holidays about a young woman who is planning to propose girlfriend. In a tragic holiday twist, though, it turns out that the girlfriend hasn’t come out to her conservative parents yet, derailing the young woman’s plans to make a big romantic show at her family’s big holiday party.
Happiest Season was written by Clea DuVall and comedian Mary Holland, with DuVall directing (and making this her studio directorial debut). Variety doesn’t say who else might star or which of the two central characters will be played by Stewart.
