Kurt Russell keeps everyone cool at glitchy Hateful Eight screening
At a New York screening of Quentin Tarantino’s latest, The Hateful Eight, some technical difficulties brought the evening to a screeching halt. Luckily, the audience just had to relax, because Jack Burton himself was there to save the day.
Tarantino’s new Western was being shown on a vintage 70mm projector, and if you think it’s hard finding a vintage 70mm projector, try finding someone that knows how to fix a vintage 70mm projector. When the equipment broke down, Hateful Eight star Kurt Russell stepped in—along with co-star Walton Goggins—to take part in an impromptu Q&A session to keep the audience occupied while repairs took place. Questions presumably focused on Russell’s grooming techniques, Belgian ales, and just when Tequila Sunrise will be receiving a Blu-ray release. Erik Loomis of The Weinstein Company tells ContactMusic that “A gear (in the projector) was stripped and then replaced in one hour.”
Russell will also finally be marrying longtime girlfriend Goldie Hawn in a cowboy-themed wedding early next year, presumably with his Hateful Eight mustache in full effect.
