Laura Dern and Judd Apatow team up for football comedy
Following her turn in The A.V. Club’s favorite TV show of 2013, Laura Dern has turned her attention to another monolithic force that she can tear down from the inside: American football. In a comedic fashion, that is: Variety reports that the Enlightened star and co-creator is developing a yet-untitled big-screen comedy with Judd Apatow, the focus of which is “obsessive female football fans.” Conceived by Dern, the movie was scripted by Team America: World Police co-writer and South Park hand Pam Brady; early reports do not indicate the involvement of any foul-mouthed puppets and/or animated elementary schoolers. Though, given the subject matter, we wouldn’t rule out an appearance by the 1989 Denver Broncos.
