Leonard Cohen’s death came after a fall, according to his manager

Leonard Cohen’s death last week at the age of 82 came after a fall, The New York Times is reporting. Cohen was indeed suffering from cancer, but his manager, Robert B. Kory, told the Times in a statement that the musician “died during his sleep following a fall in the middle of the night on November 7.” The news wasn’t reported until November 10. Kory added: “The death was sudden, unexpected, and peaceful.”

In an interview with the New Yorker, which came out in October, Cohen had remarked that he was “ready to die,” adding, “I hope it’s not too uncomfortable.” Still, as the Times writes, Cohen was in the midst of a variety of unfinished projects, including an album in which his songs would be reconfigured into string arrangements. He released You Want It Darker last month.
